Grow Your Blog 2013

Welcome to Patty's Pretty Things! Vicki of 2 Bags Full is hosting a Grow Your Blog party. What a fun way to get to know more bloggers and form more friendships.

I will tell you some things about myself so you can get to know me better. I have just completed my first year of blogging and feel really happy about it. I hope to continue on for a long time.

I have shared bits and pieces about myself and my family in my posts. My husband, Dan, and I are empty nesters. We have raised two beautiful children and have been blessed with a new daughter-in-law as of last summer. We will be grandparents for the first time in April. We are expecting a grandson!

I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years. I worked in hospitals throughout the country for the first half of my career. The latter half has been spent working in a fabulous school system. I am the lead nurse of the district and have 16 nurse colleagues who truly care for the students and their families.

Besides working, I love to create just about anything. I have sewed; knitted and crocheted; made jewelry; scrapbooked, made greeting cards and SMASH books; and now want to learn how to paint furniture and other objects! Oh, I also love to take photos and blog about the things I make and do.

I truly enjoy blogging. I could do it all day long. It brings all of my creativity to one place. It helps me to accomplish things I really want to do. I have tried things I never would have tried if it hadn't been for Pinterest and blogging. The most wonderful thing about blogging though is the people I have met, people with whom I have shared ideas.

In honor of this blog party and my first anniversary I would like to give away something. It's a 10 inch diameter Anthropologie inspired wool pom pom wreath with a red ribbon for Valentine's Day.

To be eligible for the drawing, just leave a comment and a winner will randomly be chosen by a random number generator. Anyone, anywhere, is eligible to win my wreath. The drawing will be held on February 1st and the winner will be posted on the Patty's Pretty Things blog.

I want to thank Vicki of 2 Bags Full for hosting this lovely linky party. Vicki has been an inspiration to me. I love to see her knitting projects; she just made some beautiful baby blankets.

My blog friends are very special to me. I look forward to expanding my circle of friends now that I kind of know what I am doing here on Blogger. Please introduce yourself so I can visit you too!

Thank you to all of my blog friends, old and new, for visiting and leaving such sweet comments. This was such a fun party but I didn't get to visit everyone. I hope to still do that.......The winner of my giveaway is Number 4, Jeanmarie DiTaranto of Mrs D Crochets, Ect. I have sent Jeanmarie an email for her address so I can send her my wreath.

  1. I have loved finding your blog and and am really looking forward to following you. I rarely give any personal details on my blog and gaurd my family privacy and reading other blogs I wonder why! The details of family lives of others, along with personal photos make for such intersting reading and help me 'know' my fellow bloggers better. Thank you. x

  5. Patty,
Congrats on your one year blogging, that's how long I've been blogging too. It sure does open up a new world, with inspiration galore and meeting new friends. Meeting like minded, decor-a-holics is the best part to me.
Loved you Anthro inspired version of the wreath the other day when you posted it. I sure want to make one too...someday. Until then, I'm entering your drawing for the mini version.
    Have a fabulous weekend!

  26. hi patty! i love your beautiful blog, art/crafts, and all the pics! i am definately going to follow you, i know nurses are always fun and interesting, we do have alot in common! i am so excited you will have your first grandchild in april, it truly changed my life when my dtr who is a school teacher had our first, we now have 4! 3 under the age of 5 and ekolu is 10 and lucky for us he came with my dtrs marriage to his dad. it is when i decided to stop nursing, i was never hardly home when mine were little, i worked so much , we decided to do it differently and help out my dtr. of course we gave up the big money, and it is hard when you have been nsg so long as it is a part of who we are, but i don't ever regret it or miss it! this has been such a blessing for us, anyways i love this about blogging, the connections! aloha, angi in hana
