Baby Shower Invitations

I had started to panic because my first grandchild's baby shower was a little over a month away and I needed to get invitations out to our guests. I had planned on ordering them online so they would look real professional but I was running out of time! I picked up some cute ones while out shopping that needed the information to be handwritten on them but after I got home I decided I didn't want to do that. That's when I searched the web and came up with this idea.

This was my inspiration, from Martha Stewart.

Martha's webpage included a template for the diaper and I had to enlarge it to make it fit into my envelope. I laid it on blue paper here so you could see it better. It has holes on it as a guide for ribbon placement but I didn't use them; I used staples instead.

These are the supplies I used:
template (enlarged)
white card stock paper
paper trimmer
scissors
stamps and ink
stapler
computer to print shower information on white card stock
envelopes

I always try to make things as easy as possible. Since my template had two straight lines, I measured to see how wide it was so I didn't have to cut everything out by hand. As you can see with the orange arrow, my template is 6 inches wide.

So I only had to make one cut on the paper trimmer on a 8 1/2 x 11 size sheet to make my template.

I laid my template on the cut paper. At this point I could trace around the template with a pencil but I chose to just hold the template on the paper and cut it out .

Actually, I cut four out at a time. So now I have some diapers to decorate with my stamps.

These are old Stampin' Up! stamps but are my all time favorite for babies so surely I would use them for my little grandson!

I don't have photos of actually folding them but you can get the idea here of how I did it. You want to make sure you just staple the first three pieces together so there is an opening to insert the invitation inside the diaper.

This was much quicker than waiting for an online store to print and send them!
