Birthday Angels

This post has evolved for two reasons. When I read Pembrokeshire Lass's post on Dreams about her Royal Dalton figurines, I was inspired to write about my daughter Ashleigh's Josef Originals birthday angels. Also, I was looking for something pink so I could join Beverly in her Pink Saturday link party.  It just so happens that Pink Saturday is turning 4 years old, so it seems that highlighting these birthday angels is a good way to celebrate such a special event.

Happy 4th Birthday to Pink Saturday!

Ashleigh's birthday angels were packed in a box down in the basement storage so I brought them out and dusted them off so they could be admired once again.

They are so sweet and I love the pastel colors. She received her first angel on the day she was born, the new baby one below holding the pink rattle.

Every angel is holding an object and has the number of the birthday year she represents attached to her.

The collection was started by my sister Barbie. Each year just before Ashleigh's birthday, we eagerly awaited for an angel to arrive in the mail (we lived out of town away from relatives most of the time).

Just now I asked Ashleigh which one was her favorite. She immediately picked up #17, the one in the orange dress holding the guitar. I can see why. Her favorite color is orange and she plays the guitar.

Ashleigh's collection is complete now since the production of the angels stops at age 21. She said she hopes to pass them on to her daughter someday.

Here are some of my favorites:

#13 holding a pretty pink telephone,

#7 holding a precious little baby doll wearing a pink jacket and

#6 wearing a pink dress and holding a birthday cake wishing Pink Saturday a Happy Birthday! Thank you Beverly for allowing me to be a part of your special day! I hope you have many more to come as we enjoy seeing all the pink each week while meeting and visiting with so many nice people.

My first mosaic!  I have been wanting to try this!
Pink is a beautiful color!

  1. Wow, aren't they gorgeous! I just love them! I wish I had included all of my figurines now....I just showed the ones in my bedroom! I have another 6 or so downstairs. But yours are just so special ( apart from the fact they celebrate your daughter's life)...and the way the light catches them and gives them a translucent look.....I just can't say just how much I like them.
