I had the STAMPIN' UP! striped ribbon in both chocolate chip and black. I originally planned on making the wreath with the chocolate chip ribbon like the one I saw, but as it was being unrolled onto the wreath form, I noticed it was cut in places with masking tape holding it together on the bolt. I was disappointed so I decided to use the black ribbon, placing double sided tape every so often onto the 12" styrofoam wreath to help the ribbon to adhere. I had to practice the winding of the ribbon a few times to get it right because it bunched easily if it was pulled too tight. I used straight pins to hold the loop and bow in place.
I am pleased with it in black (things have a way of working out.) I hung it on a hook on the hall tree in the foyer. These quick and simple projects that turn out right can relieve stress and bring personal satisfaction, both of which I really needed tonight!
Here is a tutorial on the technique I used to make my bow. My ribbon does not have wire in it and instead of tying it with a pipe cleaner, I used a piece of the ribbon to tie it together. So for those two reasons, my bow looks flat and not as poufy.
i LOVE this wreath! and will be making one :)
